Concept

Since 1920, we have continued on our path with a faith that has remained unchanged for 4 generations.

From the very beginning, we have known that the secret of a perfect köfte lies in the best, most natural and healthiest ingredients. We are working to pass on the legacy of taste to future generations. Our expertise has been shaped by the insights of our masters and has not changed since 1920. We do not keep any products in our kitchen that we would not eat, prefer to serve our valued customers courteously, place utmost importance on hygiene in our kitchen and are committed to keeping our customers’ satisfaction at the highest level. While passing on the rich culture of Turkish cuisine from generation to generation, we offer you the taste of Sultanahmet Köfte, which opens from Istanbul to the whole of Turkey and the world, without any additives.

History

The founder of Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi, Mehmet Seracettin Efendi, laid the first step for the taste of Turkish cuisine that started in Istanbul in 1920 and spread worldwide. The journey began in a small store called Turan Kebapçısı in Sultanahmet. The taste of köfte, which today contributes to the world cultural heritage, was prepared for the people that day with carefully selected meat and served on the grill without using spices. The taste of the famous köfte, which became famous through the efforts of Mehmet Seracettin Efendi and his three sons, continued as Halk Kebapçısı in 1944. The brothers Selim and İsmail Tezçakın, who wanted to continue their father’s legacy, continued their service to the people of Istanbul under the name Meşhur Halk Kebapçısı in 1964 in the historic store that is now the center of Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi. Meşhur Halk Köftecisi, which has grown without compromising its friendly service policy and the unique taste of the köfte, added the name Sultanahmet in 1976 and became a World Heritage Site: Sultanahmet Meşhur Halk Köftecisi.

The deliciousness of the carefully prepared köfte from Sultanahmet crossed borders when the visionary 4th generation of the Tezçakın family embraced the concept of brand building and opened the first international branch in Baku.

The journey that began in 1920 continued to reach the world. The year 2016 marked the beginning of the spread of Turkish flavors to Europe and America.

With each successive generational leap and store expansion, Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi has managed to offer the unparalleled taste experience of its köfte both domestically and abroad. As a proud member of the Century Brands Club, whose history dates back over 100 years, it is the first köfte brand to have its name engraved in the history of century brands.

Strengthened by the family concept and filtered through the expertise of four generations, Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi has become a classic in Istanbul. With the delicious taste that was discovered 100 years ago, it continues to set standards and pave the way for the future!

Logo

For the real taste of Köfte, follow this emblem!

Our logo was designed by the famous calligrapher Sinan Sinangil and is a tribute to Sultanahmet, the first step of our journey. The 6 minarets in our emblem represent Sultanahmet and at the same time contain the first letters of Sultanahmet Meşhur Halk Köftecisi.

As Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi, our most important value since 1920 has been the carefully protected taste of our köfte. You can experience the real taste of Sultanahmet Köfte in any of our branches that carry this emblem.

Quality guarantee

In 1920, Mehmet Seracettin Efendi, the founder of the historic Sultanahmet Köfte House, discovered a taste that was impossible to imitate.

Since that day, we have been working tirelessly for 4 generations to offer you, our valued customers, this taste without compromise.

If today we can bring the taste of köfte without additives, made of high quality meat mixed only with bread and salt to the whole world, it is because of our quality guideline which is passed on from generation to generation. Not only our own opinion, but also all official documents guarantee our quality guideline.

Social responsibility

Our young people are the guarantors of our future...

While spreading the taste of köfte worldwide, we have not forgotten our students. To date, we have sponsored numerous events at various universities. We have offered our delicacies to our young people, who are the guarantors of our future, at these events. In addition to universities, we take every opportunity to offer our support and flavor to students in high schools and elementary schools to contribute to the future. In order to pass on the traces of our culture to future generations, we welcome our students like guests in our store and enable them to get to know the flavors of Turkish cuisine.

The traces of the past are carried into the future!

History is one of the most important values of a country. In addition to Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi’s contribution to Turkish cuisine since 1920, Mehmet Tezçakın also sheds light on history with his valuable works.

Mehmet Tezçakın creates a link between the past and the future through his carefully collected and preserved collection of Ottoman banknotes that he has long gathered from all over the world. This passion of Tezçakın was published in book form in 2005. The work entitled “Osmanlı İmparatorluğu Kağıt Paraları” received the Cultural Publication Certificate from the Ministry of Culture.

However, Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi’s contribution to history does not end here. In 2000, the unique pieces of this valuable collection were printed and distributed in the form of desk calendars.

To give even more people the opportunity to discover the collection, the collection, which sheds light on the last 200 years of Turkey’s economic and social history, has been exhibited in many museums.

We cultivate Turkish traditions.

Blessing coin / Tooth money

Two important values of Turkish society are upheld by Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi.

The blessing coin is a symbolic coin that is believed to bring good luck and blessings and is therefore kept in the wallet or pocket without being spent. Tooth money, on the other hand, is a symbolic coin given to a guest invited to a meal during the Ottoman era after the meal is over.

We give these two traditions to our valued guests at Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi. By giving both Turkish and international citizens decommissioned Turkish Republic coins, we are helping to keep a tradition alive.
